How to Develop a Relationship With a Personal Shopper

How to Develop a Relationship With a Personal Shopper

Personal shoppers or stylists are professionals who work with clients to create a flattering look. A personal shopper walks you through your fashion choices and makes recommendations based on the latest styles and what she feels would look good on you. If you plan on working with a personal shopper, you should develop a good relationship with them.

Step
1

Keep all of your appointments with the personal shopper. The more often that you work with your personal shopper, the better your relationship will be. Late cancellations only cause strife in your relationship.

Step
2

Let her know your likes and dislikes. If you absolutely hate one of her fashion choices, let her know it. It is better to be vocal and give her an idea of what type of clothing you like.

Step
3

Be reasonable with your expectations. A personal shopper can't give you a total makeover. She only helps you with your shopping picks; what you do with her recommendations is up to you.

Step
4

Thank her for her services. If you are not paying her, it is a nice gesture to give a gift or another display of gratitude.

Step
5

Look for a new personal shopper if you are unable to develop a good relationship. If you feel that you are not meshing well with your personal shopper, request that a new one be assigned to you.

Tips & Warnings

You want a personal shopper who is honest but tactful. You won't have a good relationship with a personal shopper who insults your fashion choices.
